What way could I possibly get hydrated?

I am sure you have been told by doctor’s, friend’s, neighbors etc., that you need to drink more water to be hydrated. Water has been taught as a cure all for all kinds of problems. We are always functioning from a place of dehydration. Lately I have seen several water challenges all over the internet; ways to cleverly trick yourself into drinking up to a gallon of water each day. This can be incredibly overwhelming. Does this sound like you?

“I have an extremely difficult time getting myself to drink water. I do not like the taste because I believe it is very bland. For years I have been trying to add mixes into my water but nothing worked!”

That makes sense, we have been consuming flavored beverages, most likely, your whole life. Juices, caffeinated beverages, flavored or enhanced water, and soda make up the majority of the beverages being consumed. When all of these liquids are getting consumed it doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for something that you didn’t want and doesn’t taste like anything anyways.

The rule of thumb is: you should be consuming one half of your body weight in ounces in water each day. Things like coffee, tea, and soda are diuretics (meaning they promote dehydration). Water can help to add hydrogen and oxygen into the cells, which promotes natural detoxification. Water can help flush out harmful toxins through the natural organ processes in the kidney’s and bladder. It is important to try to get in your minimum daily amount (half of your body weight in ounces) each day to promote healthy detoxification, hydration and energy.

If you are having issues getting water into your daily diet here are some incredible power packed additives to make sure you are getting not only the water but some great benefits as well! I discovered tinctures that not only have taste, but health benefits too. I have seen positive changes in my body because of tinctures. I have found that when I add tinctures into my water, I am more motivated to drink it and I love feeling hydrated. This promotes a healthy cycle of getting the right amount of water to your cells and getting some great benefits!

Five Ways to Get Yourself to Drink Water:

1-2 Drops of Turmeric with 2-3 Tablespoons of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Turmeric has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory properties with benefits ranging from Arthritis to Alzheimer’s disease. It is an Omega-3 booster; which acts as a leukotriene* inhibitor that does not suppress the immune system and stabilizes the mast cells so histamines are not released, it also inhibits the development of tumors, may improve blood pressure, lowers risk of heart disease and cancer, has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiprotozoal properties. The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, which has powerful anti- inflammatory effects and is a strong antioxidant. It helps the body fight foreign invaders and helps repair damage that has been done to the body. There has been experimental data where curcumin destroyed the beta-amyloid plaques in the brain associated with Alzheimer’s

disease. Curcumin may also help reverse many steps in the heart disease process. Turmeric can help prevent cancer because the curcumin in it reduces the growth of cancerous cells. Lemons have many nutrients including vitamin C, B- complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Nine of the several benefits there are in lemons are, boosting your immune system, excellent source of potassium, aids digestion, detoxes and cleanses your body, keeps skin blemish free and helps with wrinkles because of the antioxidants, it contains pectin fiber which assists in hunger cravings, thus it helps with weight. Lemon also helps with inflammation, gives your body a natural energy boost, and last but not least, helps fight viral infections. Adding lemon and turmeric into your water is an easier way to get a surplus of benefits without taking vitamins. Turmeric has a peppery flavor to it, but adding lemon balances out the pepper and creates the perfect flavor combination. Because of how harsh lemon is on the enamel to your teeth, research has shown it is best to drink it in lukewarm water 15-20 minutes before having breakfast in the morning.

*Leukotrienes are small mediator chemicals produced by cells in the body. Leukotriene inhibitors are prescribed medications to help treat asthma and allergies.
