The 3 Most Cringe-worthy things we ALL say and then REPEAT!

There are so many cringe-worthy statements that are said on a daily basis, and then even worse they are repeated! These statements have become common phrases or beliefs that many carry with them as either factual or reasonable.  They are not only absurd, they can be harmful to your overall health and mindset.

I highlight my ‘favorites’ but trust me there are so many more, so at the end of this blog share your most cringe-worthy statements!

1. Everything in moderation

Who is the ‘genius’ we can thank for this totally false and ridiculous statement?  There are certain categories of foods that are NOT real and therefore should not be consumed…ever!  That would include most of the processed foods that are being sold as ‘convenience’ items. Let’s call out Crisco, Splenda, Pop-Tarts, Coffee Mate, margarine, high-fructose corn syrup, instant soups, soda, hot dogs (deli-meats), breakfast cereals, ice-cream, most things in the frozen aisle, vegetable oils, sugary drinks and more!  All of these categories of foods have better versions available that if you simply ‘let the ingredient list guide you’ you’ll say no to the junk. So yeah, at your next birthday party, barbecue, dinner party, you don’t have to eat crap…lead by example, and just say no!

2. You need a cheat day

Are you someone that cheats people?  Do you like when people cheat you?  I’m going to guess you’ve answered NO to both questions.  If so, then why would you want to cheat yourself?  It doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would you want to have a cheat day?  A cheat day implies you’re grabbing or eating foods from the ‘everything in moderation’ list and that somehow it’s okay to consume them once a week…huh?  It’s not real food, why would you want to eat it at all?

Some people make concessions like, ‘I have to have creamer in my coffee’ or, ‘I have to have a little piece of something sweet’ after dinner.  Well, let’s get real, you don’t have to have any of that, but yes, sometimes it’s nice to have a creamy drink or something sweet. That’s an easy fix. There are so many great clean treats, NOT cheats, that you can substitute and that will satisfy the worst sugar dragon or pesky salt monster around!  Check out my favorites here!

3.That diet worked for me

How many times have you heard someone say ‘I’m going back on that diet because it worked for me’?  Okay, let’s think about it, if the diet worked then why are they doing it again? A diet is temporary and does not promote a true lifestyle change.  To make a true lifestyle change then you need to be in the right mindset.  Having a temporary weight loss success story does not mean you’ll have a long lasting sustainable lifestyle.

Okay, I’ve listed the 3 most cringe-worthy things we all say and then repeat!  Are you guilty?  Will you stop perpetuating these myths?  Will you share this with others, so we can stop these falsehoods?  List some of your favorites. Together we can make a change – a true sustainable lifestyle change.
