There is no one size fits all

How many times have you heard one of the following?

  1. You need to be plant-based/vegan (other diet lane … keto, paleo, vegetarian, gluten-free etc.)
  2. You need to go to the gym.
  3. You need to drink (or stop drinking) … juices, smoothies, tea, coffee, etc.
  4. You need to detox your liver (or another organ).
  5. Fill in the BLANK!

The list of ‘you need’ grows depending on your social circle and how vocal their opinions are.  

Everybody seems to have their own personal influencer (friend, parent, sibling, child, online expert etc.). And, that’s the problem!  What’s worked (or works) for that person doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you.  Most of the times, we’re in a desperate situation and we want to resolve the health crisis, so we’re willing to try anything, especially if it seems fast and easy. For example, eat this way, buy this tea, apply this cream, take this pill/shot, or burn this essential oil etc.  

There is no magic bullet

Often, the so-called “solution” from the trusted source doesn’t work or isn’t effective.  It doesn’t work because there is NO one size fit all…ever…for ANYTHING! There is no magic medication that the doctor can prescribe, there is no perfect diet plan that the nutritionist can suggest and there’s no amazing supplement or homeopathic concoction from the naturopath.

The solution is and will always be to use your discernment first and then understand that the path to longevity involves multiple components. How you fuel your body is crucial but so is the following:

  • Sleep
  • Eliminating daily
  • Finding your tribe
  • Being kind to yourself
  • Moving your body

Being less focused on diet lanes and ‘they said’ and more open to an overall philosophy, like the one we promote with clean eating is the only way to achieve lasting longevity.  We’ll never tell you what to eat, but we do want to educate you on the questions to ask about the food you are consuming. 

You are an individual

So, instead of subscribing to a myopic view of what’s good for one person or group of people, start to figure out what’s best for you.  No one knows your gut microbiome, your stress levels, your history with family, trauma, etc.  Only you know, so start working toward understanding YOU before you jump into a rigid elimination protocol. And remember – THERE IS NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL!
